Agribusiness Development

 

   Agribusiness Development Division is responsible in providing services for agribusiness development       through the following roles:-

  • To have effective agribusiness strategies that provides guidance to steer the agribusiness development process. Such support services and establishment policy and legislation mobilise stakeholders in the agribusiness sector and deliver market driven agri-food products through an accreditation process.
  • To have dynamic public and private finance and investment programs that help to stimulate growth and expansion of the agribusiness sector.
  • To fully utilise human resources according to their skills and develop necessary measures to upgrade staff capacity and capability so defined services shall be effectively delivered through an efficient organisational structure.
  • To redirect agricultural program support to more effectively stimulate agribusiness activities without infringing on trade agreement obligations.
  • To broaden the scope of the marketing function so that marketing intelligence is able to determine products that offer competitive and/or comparative advantage in domestic and foreign markets and their suitability for production/processing in Brunei; offering an efficient marketing information dissemination to our clients.
  • To build a strong, competitive and expanding agribusiness community through training and capability building; and facilitating inter-dependent coordination, cooperation and communication among stakeholders.

   The main functions of the Units under Agribusiness Development Division are:

  • Marketing and Information Management – Collecting and analyzing marketing informations, doing marketing analysis on agriculture projects, disseminating local and international projects information in relations to agriculture, promoting agriculture investment, undergoing surveys and research on agriculture commodity, compiling, preparing and distributing annual agriculture statistics.
  • Agribusiness Advisory – Encouraging active participation of agriculture entrepreneurs, facilitating agribusiness entrepreneurs for development and exploiting their potentials in the agribusiness sector, assisting agribusiness entrepreneurs competency through capacity building, creation of partnership and better communication, delivering advisory/consultancy services in relation to information and opportunities in agribusiness, fianancial assistance, and business networking in the agribusiness sector.
  • Agriculture Program Support – Identifying and managing Agriculture Development Area (ADA) lands, processing gazzetted ADA lands, advertising and monitoring ADA lands, assisting other relevant departments in providing comments and views on applications such as Foreign Employees Recruitment Licence – Labour Department, TOL and EDR Lands – Land Department, Government projects – Town and Country Planning Department.
  • Brunei Muara District Agriculture Development – Integrating agricultural activities on crops and livestocks by creating market opportunities towards achieving the departmental objectives, improving local farmers capability by creating ‘farmers field study’ educating them at their own environmental learning capacity where experience can be learn and shared, monitoring the progress in district development projects, collecting and processing agricultural data within the district, activating the District Agriculture Development as Information Centre for Agribusiness, coordinating and facilitating the distribution of agricultural incentives.
  • Floriculture and Ornamental Development – Providing support services for the development of ornamental plants and floriculture industries in Negara Brunei Darussalam in order to increase production, quality and to produce varieties of the local plant species and hybrids through training programs to entrepreneurs in promotion and marketing, producing and collecting indigenous/hybrid orchid and ornamental plant species for research and evaluation on plants which have the potential to be hybridized/bred and then commercialized and for educating the students and younger generation, collecting information data on floriculture industry for specific projects.
  • Tutong District Agriculture Development – Integrating agriculture activities such as crops and livestocks with the aim to increase market opportunities, identifying and assisting in the development of potential agricultural enterprise, promoting investment in agriculture sector, monitoring the progress in district development projects, collecting and processing agricultural data within the district, activating the District Agriculture Development as Information Centre for Agribusiness, coordinating and facilitating the distribution of agricultural incentives.
  • Belait District Agriculture Development – Integrating agriculture activities such as crops and livestocks with the aim to increase market opportunities, identifying and assisting in the development of potential agricultural enterprise, promoting investment in agriculture sector, monitoring the progress in district development projects, collecting and processing agricultural data within the district, activating the District Agriculture Development as Information Centre for Agribusiness, coordinating and facilitating the distribution of agricultural incentives.
  • Temburong District Agriculture Development – Integrating agriculture activities such as crops and livestocks with the aim to increase market opportunities, identifying and assisting in the development of potential agricultural enterprise, promoting investment in agriculture sector, monitoring the progress in district development projects, collecting and processing agricultural data within the district, activating the District Agriculture Development as Information Centre for Agribusiness, coordinating and facilitating the distribution of agricultural incentives.
