Exporting

 

Procedures and rules for applying export permit on timber based products

1. Applicant must submit application in writing to Director of Forestry with detailed information: reason of export, product type/species, quantity, frequency, destination and information about the importer. 
   
   
2. Only products categorized as "semi-finished and finished" are allowed to be exported.
   
   
3. Sawlog from this country is prohibited from exportation. However, the Director of Forestry upon his approval may issue a permit allowing the export of processed forest products and any category of sawn timber of any types/ species or sizes that the Director thinks is unsuitable to be processed in this country.
   
   
4. Application for restricted wood products under CITES (Convention on Trade of Endangered Species) list for example ramin and gaharu, applicant must attach the following documents:
• Copy of the CITES permit issued from the Agriculture Department, Negara Brunei Darussalam (as CITES Management Authority) before the Forestry Department (as CITES Scientific Authority) can issue the import permit.
