Princess Rashidah Young Nature Scientist Award (PRYNSA) is a prestigious and high profile awareness programme that aims to inculcate a sense of love for the country's forests and nature among the younger generations besides exposing them to the experience of conducting field research activities. PRYNSA is an annual basic research competition organized by the Forestry Department for upper secondary schools in Brunei Darussalam under the main sponsorship of Brunei Shell Petroleum Sdn Bhd.

In the preliminary round, secondary schools are eliminated by a panel of judges until five research proposals remain and the selected teams carry out their projects during the year. At the end of their research implementation, they have to deliver a final oral presentation and submit a written report for assessment. The winning team is awarded the Young Nature Scientist Award.

Good responses from the previous PRYNSA students have been tremendous, with most of them appreciating the research experience gained by participating in PRYNSA. Some of the winning projects have gone on to become the winner and best submission in the Regional Award for Science competition. This demonstrates the regional outreach of the PRYNSA projects.
